The Mandalorian: Everything to know before Season 3
March 13, 2023
One of Disney+’s most popular shows is back for another season, leaving fans very confused if they aren’t versed in Star Wars lore. The Mandalorian is back as of Wednesday March 1, and if you haven’t seen the Book of Boba Fett, then you’re going to be lost.
Mandalorian season 2 left off with Grogu being taken by Luke Skywalker to learn the ways of the Jedi, Mando gaining possession of the Dark Saber (making him rightful ruler of Mandalore) and Mando being without a ship. When season 3 starts, Grogu is back, the darksaber is gone, and Mando has a new ship.
This is where Book of Boba Fett comes in. Despite being a show about the infamous bounty hunter from the original trilogy, Mando and Grogu have a significant amount of screen time in Book of Boba Fett. The episodes containing Mando and Grogu were significantly better than anything regarding Fett’s main quest, but at least some points were filled.
What happened to Mando’s ship?
At the end of season 2, Mando’s ship the Razorcrest was destroyed, forcing him to rely on Fett to get around. During Book of Boba Fett, Mando turned to his go-to repair woman Peli Motto on Tatooine, who got him a Naboo Starfighter.
Where’s the darksaber?
During Boba Fett, Mando was forced to reveal to the other Mandalorians that his helmet had been removed. According to Mandalorian law, he was exiled and lost the right to the darksaber.
How is Grogu back?
Grogu’s training with Luke Skywalker was far from successful. Grogu’s attachment to his foster father clouded his judgement, and after Mando came to check on the little guy, he was distracted even further. So Luke gave Grogu a choice. Either take a lightsaber and train to be a Jedi, or take Mandalorian armor and go live with Mando. Grogu arrived on Tatooine the next episode in an X-Wing piloted by R2-D2.
So what’s next for the Mandalorian? It looks like Mando’s headed to his home planet Mandalore to reclaim his honor. With a new ship and Grogu by his side, season 3 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle.
