An Oscar is an indication of quality and performance, and it is highly sought by filmmakers and actors alike. Here are the notable awards from the Oscars:
Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All at Once
Everything Everywhere All at Once is about the Wang family struggling financially, when suddenly the mother Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) is visited by a version of her husband Waymond (Ke Huy Quan) from another universe. Together, they must stop an evil that is slowly destroying every universe. The movie got the Oscar for its actors, script, and its stylish visual effects.The movie not only won best picture, but included the best director, best actress, best supporting actress, best supporting actor, original screen play, and editing.
Best Director: Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert directed the best picture, Everything Everywhere at Once. The two attended Emerson College together in Boston. The two previous directed movies together including Swiss Army Man (2016) and various indy productions.
Best Actress: Michelle Yeoh
Michelle Yeoh was awarded best actress for her role as Evelyn Wang in the best picture Everything Everywhere All at Once. Yeoh’s fantastic portrayal of a heroic mother across many dimensions makes her an easy pick for best actress.
Best Actor: Brendan Fraser
Brendan Fraser was awarded best actor for his role as Charlie in The Whale. Charlie is an obese English teacher who who hides away from society in his apartment, who wants to contact his daughter as his last attempt at reconnecting with her. Fraser put on a great portrayal of his character in his return to Hollywood film.
Best Supporting Actress: Jamie Lee Curtis
Jamie Lee Curtis was awarded best supporting actress for her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in the best picture Everything Everywhere All at Once. Deirdre is a worker for the IRS who informs the Wang family that they have limited time before they lose their laundromat business. Deirdre is fearsome in some dimension, but harmless in other, leading to Curtis expressing a wide variety of emotions and characteristics.
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan
Ke Huy Quan was awarded best supporting actor for his role as Waymond Wang in the best picture Everything Everywhere All at Once. Waymond is the husband of main character Evelyn. Waymond is primarily controlled by himself from another dimension, and serves as a mentor for Evelyn and reveals the plot.
