The boys lacrosse team recently took on Cathedral. The impressive opponent went to state last year causing this game to be highly anticipated. With spectators, coaches, and athletes expecting it to be a close and high intensity game, the stakes were set high.

With the win for state last year, the Saint Joe boys lacrosse team has moved up divisions making the competition that much harder. This match up was no exception. It was an extremely physical game that was a nail biter right down to the last 30 seconds.

Joe Saratore had more to add on that, “We knew going into the game that it was going to be close but we were still confident in ourselves for sure… those last thirty seconds slipped away from us but thankfully Jack was able to get that last goal to finish it all.”

Thankfully is the perfect word for it; without that goal, the late game would have gone even later with it having to go into overtime. The final score of the game was a close 10-9 with scores from: Zach Yergler, Flynn Leonard (2), Andrew Letherman, Joe Saratore (3), Antonio Morrell and Jack Tobolski (2). Defense was no exception in this win being able to hold the Fighting Irish off to 4 points until the last 5 minutes. Anderson Davis, Austin Futa, Quinn Boyer, and Teddy Hosinski being amongst some of the top senior defenders for Saint Joe in the game last night.

The boys continue the season with many away games in their future as they hope for continued success. Best of luck to all those on the team and specifically the seniors as they finish out this school year strong!
