Week 6 : Elkhart Lions (5-0) @ Saint Joe Indians (2-4)
October 11, 2020
The Saint Joe Indians are looking to get in the win column as they lost their last game to New Prairie after winning two in a row.
The task wasn’t going to be easy as they were taking on the Elkhart Lions who are #16 in the state of Indiana, and #10 in their 6A class. The Indians were also down many players; Asante Anglin, Walter Wesson, Keagan Frick, and many others were the part of the inactive list for Friday.
The Indians received the ball to begin the first half. They came out in a jumbo run package to minimize the Lions touches and time of possession. The Indians couldn’t get anything going as they had to give it to the Lions with a little under half a quarter left to play. The Elkhart Lions then began to do what the Lions do. Their high powered offense went on to score three touchdowns on their first five possessions, as the Indians could not get anything going. Going into halftime the score was in the favor of Elkhart 35-0.
The game continued to roll the Lions way, until Tyrick Kamau (15 carries for 68 yards), broke the shutout and scored on a 4 yard touch down rush. The Indians let up two more touchdowns and lost the game 49-6. The Indians drop to 2-4 and the Lions move on to a powerful 5-0. The Lions have Marian next as the Indians have the Penn Kingsmen on October 2nd at home for homecoming.
