SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is made to empower students to make responsible, healthy choices for themselves. These choices all have the goal of impacting the community positively. They focus on drug awareness, mental health, safe driving, suicide prevention, and much more!
Drug Awareness and prevention is one of the main focal points of SADD. During Red Ribbon Week, SADD creates posters to advocate drug awareness. They hold anti-vaping and smoking campaigns. As well as making awareness videos for the announcements!
Safe Driving is something else SADD focuses on. They also host several events throughout the year like Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Rock the Belt, Passport to Safe Driving, & TextLess Live More. Members also make posters and other content to spread awareness as well!
Mental Health and Wellness is another huge part of SADD. They spread awareness by advocating the importance of mental health. As well as selling bracelets to benefit the St. Joseph County Suicide Prevention Center. Students also take on “the Race to Save lives”. And one of my favorites is writing positive messages on mirrors in bathrooms, to remind others of their importance.
SADD helps provide a safe prom. SADD affiliates themselves with the partnership of Drug-Free St. Joseph County for alcohol awareness tabling tables before prom. They provide awareness, and the importance of making safe choices.
There are also opportunities to get more deeply involved this year more than ever, with the new partnership of Drug-Free St. Joseph County, VOICE (tobacco/vaping prevention group), and much more things they want to start integrating!
SADD club is a great community to be apart of! For more information email Mrs. Barca at [email protected], or MS. McNulty at [email protected] and consider joining.
