The boys and girls cross country team participated in the City Meet last Thursday at Erskine. Both teams did very well with boys junior varsity winning 1st place, and girls varsity and junior varsity winning 1st. There were teams that participated, among the cross country’s new rival, Trinity. There were many new personal records within the team. One of the most remarkable performances was by sophomore Max Elick, with his huge time drop from 19:05 to 18:45. Erskine is considered to be the hardest course to run on with the numerous hills, many curves, and the pace the race goes. This is also a very important meet as every team wants to win City, and prove how hard they’ve worked so far this season.
Which is especially why it’s so remarkable the junior varsity boys placed 2nd (Jason Kintzele) , 3rd (Aaron Gonzalez) , 4th (Elliot Mark), 5th (Joseph Kloska), and 6th (Samuel Frick) in their respective race. Some of the varsity boys placed well too, for example Gabriel Poloneki placed 4th in his varsity race. The girls also raced well with them getting 1st (Izzy Frabutt) , 2nd (Meg Baxter), and 3rd (Molly Belia) in the varsity race, then turning around and yet again getting 1st, 2nd, and then 3rd again, in the junior varsity race.
Overall, both teams performed very well on Thursday winning three of the four team races.
The team is now looking forward to their race this Saturday located at the IWU (Indiana Western University). Only the top 10 from each girl and boy team will be transported to race, as this will be a very fast race with hopefully many new personal records.
