Saint Joseph highschool is home to many former alumni. Indiana University Bloomington becomes a new home for many of those students. One example is 2023 St. Joe grad, Danielle Mcilwain.
Mcilwain was involved in the girls lacrosse team serving as a goalie at St. Joseph high school. She was also involved in the spirit club and ski club. During all four years at St. Joe, Mcilwain has also been passionate about the PLTW Biomedical Sciences, where she earned her white coat and portrays her love for science/medicine.
Mcilwain chose Indiana University Bloomington because “ I liked that it is a big 10 school because I have a passion for watching and keeping up with sports and how they also have a great nursing program with many opportunities that will benefit me greatly.”
Her favorite memory at St. Joseph high school is “ the Saint Joe Friday night football games and hanging out with a group of friends after to go out to eat.”
McIlwain has already started considering career options and is majoring in nursing. She hopes to be a labor and delivery travel nurse in the future. At this time, Danielle has tried out of the Indiana University girls lacrosse team and is considering trying out for rowing.
She dedicates her time to balance her school schedule and gives a word of advice for the current students at St. Joseph High School, “ My biggest piece of advice to do make sure you get your work completed and prioritize youre time. Time management is important.”
