On Saturday, September 9, 2023 and Sunday, September 10, 2023 the Fusion Fest was held at Howard Park. This event is a Ethnic Festival and has been going on for years now. There was many food venders, artists, music, activities and presentations from different regions such as North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
The entrance for this festival was free for both days! Most activities happened on Saturday. For instance, there was the “Around the World Car Show” which many people enjoyed. Fusion Fest also had a “Dragon Boat Ride” and “Ferris Wheel.” The cost for both of these rides were free! How awesome is that? There was face painting as well as henna tattoos. The festival had many games for people to play or watch. They even had a Potawatomi Zoo interactive experience which was free as well. Fireworks were supposed to go off but unfortunately, Saturday’s firework show was cancelled due safety reasons after a fight that broke out. Other than that, Saturday was overall a success!
On Sunday, not many activities were presented but people still enjoyed the festival. The Ferris Wheel was still around and still free, but unfortunately the “Dragon Boat Ride” was no longer around. The only activity they had was the “Movie Marathon.” The movies that were played were Disney movies! The Fusion Fest is a great way to learn about other cultures and get a taste of their food. If you didn’t get a chance to go this year, no worries! The Fusion Fest happens every year so you can come around next time.
