Saint Joe High sophomore Marley Dunham is a quiet but determined student athlete who works hard and sets goals for herself. In an interview conducted by WSBT, Dunham explained how she sets goals for herself prior to her matches and goes out during the match and exceeds her own expectations.
Dunham has only been playing golf for the last five years but has mastered her skills quickly. A quick learner, Dunham received the First Team All Conference award as a freshman in 2022. Dunham explained her love for the sport, “I am an extremely competitive person and I enjoy competing with other golfers my age. I also really like that my hard work will pay off over time.”
On the 29th and 30th of September, Dunham went to state to compete in the high ranking golf tournament down in Carmel, Indiana. She shot an 84 on the first day and an 86 on the second day. She placed 50th overall out of 108 different golfers. Dunham recalls “The state course was long and hard but I pushed all the way through. My putts were just not dropping both days.”
Dunham was ecstatic to be able to make it to state. She wishes things had turned out more in her favor but is very thankful for the opportunity to represent Saint Joe and be recognized at the state level. Dunham looks forward to building on the experience during her junior year to continue to improve her golf game.
