Adoration is a very important prayer ceremony celebrated by Christians all around. It is a ceremony that can be celebrated at any time. At Saint Joe, Adoration is celebrated once a month but the Eucharist is only present for a few days. During the time it is present, most students go down in 15 minute intervals, and can be participate from once a day to going 3 times in one day, depending on the student’s schedule.
During that time students pray to the Eucharist and worship Him in the chapel (as shown in photo above). The Eucharist is presented in a monstrance so it is exposed for viewing. Adoration is looked forward to from most students as a break from class, but also a good time to be able to connect with God. As students, there are many different things going on in their life, such as homework, jobs, sports, clubs, and more. Because of that, it can be hard to find time to talk with God, and really get to pray. Luckily, with Adoration students and teachers alike have time to talk and worship God at least once a month.
Adoration is a fairly new thing to be introduced to our school. According to Mr. DePauw, “When I was in high school, I never went to Adoration. It’s a fairly new thing for our school to have it.”
Adoration will be celebrated several more times throughout the school year.
