Have you ever wondered what it is like being a shadow for Saint Joe. Dylan Parenteau, a visiting student from Minnesota, came to see what Saint Joe was all about.
After meeting up in the main office, he had the opportunity to shadow Gerry Jones, the kicker for the football team. During his visit, Parenteau watched classes like AP Macroeconomics, Psychology, Dignity of Men and Coming of Age. Parenteau said that “he struggled but learned a lot through the classes he participated in.”
He said while being at Saint Joe he felt at home and felt like Saint Joe felt like a school he might attend in the future.
After the school day the Saint Joe experience didn’t stop there. Parenteau went to the sectional contest against Northwood to experience Saint Joe football. Although we lost, Parenteau enjoyed the experience of getting to see his friend play in the game and get to finally live the Saint Joe football experience.
On Saturday he decided to check out the area around South Bend. Parenteau visited places like Daves Hot Chicken and the Notre Dame campus – including the Compton Arena to see the Notre Dame hockey team. When touring the campus, he was amazed on how good the university was and didn’t want to leave. When being asked about how he enjoys South Bend, he told us how he lived in a bigger city of Minneapolis that South Bend felt like a second home while only being there for a few days.
He went to the Notre Dame hockey game vs Boston University which Dylan said was his favorite part of his trip. Although the Irish lost 8-2, he said the trip had been the perfect experience. At the end of the day he said in his interview that “people should come to Saint Joe, it’s a place where you can feel at home, build a close community and learn great things.”
