Our very own Terry McFadden has announced his retirement from WNDU after 30 years of being an award-winning television journalist, and co-anchoring the early evening and late editions of 16 News Now.
McFadden is a native of South Bend, attending both Saint Joseph Grade School and Saint Joseph High School (’79). McFadden then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in communications from the University of Notre Dame – adding his name to a long list of accomplished Saint Joe alumni.
At home, McFadden spends time with his wife, Laurie, and three sons, Michael, Sean, and Charlie who all followed in their father’s footsteps attending all three of the same schools.
McFadden began his broadcasting career as a news and sports reporter with WNDU-TV in 1982. “His street-smart, matter-of-fact style of reporting quickly made him one of Michiana’s favorite television journalists,” says WNDU. He then left taking a job opportunity at WSBT being the weekend news anchor for 6 years. Then, with the opportunity to co-anchor with his sister Maureen, McFadden returned to WNDU and has been there ever since.
Following his 30th anniversary party at WNDU McFadden announced his retirement planned for early next year, likely around the end of February. McFadden mentions how much family time over his year of work and doesn’t want to repeat this with his grandkids. His daughter-in-law, Keenan White, (my sister) is expecting and is due in early March. With this being McFadden’s first grandchild, he finds this as an opportunity to claw back some of this lost family time.
