Do you have an interest for sports like basketball or baseball? Have you ever wanted to commentate on sports games? Well at Saint Joe this is a possibility that we could see in the very near future at Saint Joe. While this club is still in the final planning stages, the club organizers are preparing to launch it this winter.
The focus of the club is an opportunity to cover live sports events. The idea came from students who participated in the Redeemer Radio internship. This program unfortunately was discontinued, but the former interns are looking for a way to offer a similar opportunity. With winter sports season approaching, senior Tommy Eck is spearheading an effort to coordinate with Athletic Director Stephen Anthony to allow students to film and broadcast our sports teams. Positions that would be needed would be camera operators, analysts and commentators. The broadcast members would highlight the player of the game along with doing analysis of the game and previewing the match with key points for the teams competing. We plan to make this very much like a professional broadcast and give members a fun experience while doing so.
The club will provide an excellent chance for students to explore the profession of sports journalism. It will, of course, also look great on a college application or future resume.
Joining this club is one of the best opportunities to get more involved in Saint Joe and could open the door to open a potential career. Broadcasting club needs people that have the passion for sports and the want to have a fun experience.
