The Kid Laroi has been a big artist since 2020 when he dropped his first studio EP. His most recent release has fans excited to see how he is progressing. Hit songs like “Without You” and “Thousand Miles,” Laroi has the hiphop/pop industry hooked.
The album consists of 20 tracks, clocking in at a 52 minute listen. The album has collaborations with artists Jung Kook, Central Cee, Future and d4vd all featured. Though lengthy, the album never drags or feels rushed as every song had a different vibe to it.
The most popular tracks on the project include “Too Much”, “Love Again” and “Sorry.” While all of these tracks are well made, others should not be overlooked – from tracks like “The Line” where Laroi gives us an incredible lyrical performance and “With You” where the production and the lyrics were very catchy. While fans can argue what the best tracks are, there were no misses on the project.
Often the anticipation of the first listen usually makes it sounds better. This was the opposite with The First Time. As I listened to the album more, I enjoyed the album more and more for every listen. From catching the depths of standout verses that Laroi sung to references that I didn’t catch it on my first listen, this album grew more interesting – making me appreciate the album much more than during my first listen.
During most of my reviews I usually have an issue with at least something on every project, but I could not find one for this album. Larois’ detail on this project was amazing and is something I hope to see in the future. Overall I would give this an album a 10/10 as it goes through all of Larois’ emotion put in the album and is my personal album of the year.
