The boys and girls cross country teams competed in an impressive season. They finished their season with five men qualifying for regionals, along with seven girls. In sectionals, Gabe Polaniecki ran a 17:03, Gonzalo ran an 18:24, Jason Kintzele 19:02, Max Elick ran an 18:10, and Charlie Webber ran an 18:43. This impressive run for the boys earned them spots in the regional competition. The girls, we just as impressive. Izzy Frabutt, Sara Prokop, Meg Baxter, Molly Bellia, Catherine Lutz, and Ella Trenerry all put in their best efforts in sectionals. These best efforts paid off when they were presented with the opportunity to run in the regional finals and represent Saint Joe.
Along with the sectional race, the NIC competition was a phenomenal success for the team. The First NIC team included Izzy Frabutt and Gabe Polaniecki. The second NIC team included Molly Bellia, Cathy Lutz, Rebecca Anatolios, and Charlie Webber. Congratulations to these runners on an amazing season!
As regionals approached, they were preparing for a wet, rainy, and rigorous competition. On the day of regionals, the course was muddy, and cold, making the race difficult and straining. However, the team came prepared for the weather and brought their spirit! Between the skilled competition and the difficult course conditions, this race turned out to be a tough race for the Saint Joe Cross Country team. Regardless, their accomplishments of making it to regionals, and winning NIC are impressive enough! Be sure to congratulate the team!!
