Russia’s second invasion of Ukraine was a shock for the whole world, as people were unprepared despite the buildup of forces beforehand. Since then, tensions hav been raising in Europe, with weapons even firing into the Western World.
After the invasion and initial rebuff by Ukraine, there has been little noticeable progress on either side, at least compared to the early military campaigns. Russia first attempted to invade, but ended up mired in a slow urban war where they lost more troops to attrition than Ukraine did.
Ukraine couldn’t turn back the tide either when they attempted their own counter-offensive, and has subsequently made little progress overall. The war seems to have entered a deadly stalemate.
Unfortunately, this state of affairs increasingly favors Russia. With significantly more troops than Ukraine (Russia has about 140 million people while Ukraine has only 40 million), Russia can mobilize more assets to continue in its attempt tp win this drawn out conflict.
Supporting Ukraine is no mistake, as the Western world sends a clear message to defy Russia’s unlawful invasion and looks to stop warmongering in the future.
