
With Thanksgiving just ending and December just beginning, it is everyone’s favorite time to watch Christmas shows and films.
#1 Home Alone
An eight-year-old troublemaker, mistakenly left home alone, must defend his home against a pair of burglars on Christmas eve. It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family, Kevin got into a scuffle with his older brother Buzz and was sent to his room, which is on the third floor of his house. Then, the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time, they completely forgot about Kevin, who now has the house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents’ bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers two burglars, Harry and Marv, about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly by wiring his own house with makeshift booby traps to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.
#2 How The Grinch Stole Christmas
On the top of the hill of Whoville lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans to ruin Christmas for all of the citizens of the town. Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville, where the Whos live, they are so joyful and all love Christmas. Just outside of their beloved town lives the Grinch, a nasty creature that hates Christmas and plans to steal it from the Whos, which he equally hates. Little Cindy Lou Who decides to befriend the Grinch and changed plans.
#3 A Charlie Brown Christmas
Depressed at the promotion of Christmas he sees around him, Charlie Brown tries to find a deeper meaning to Christmas. When Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism that he sees around everyone during the Christmas season, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, he needs Linus.
#4 The Red Nose Reindeer
A young reindeer, Rudolph lives at the North Pole. His father is one of Santa’s reindeer and it is expected that Rudolph will eventually be one too. However, he has a feature which is a setback and causes him to be ‘different’ , his red nose. The story begins with a newborn reindeer. He is Rudolph, son of Donner, and he is expected to one take his father’s place among Santa Claus’s reindeer. But the happy parents are shocked when they realize that Rudolph is not a normal reindeer. He is a red nose which glows with its own light. Santa Claus is not pleased with Rudolph’s unusual appearance, and does not see him as a potential recruit. Donner decides to mask his son’s nose, and to keep this detail secret.
#5 Frosty The Snowman
A living snowman and a little girl struggle to avoid a greedy magician who is after the snowman’s magic hat. A Snowman with a silk top hat becomes the focus of a struggle between a washed up stage magician and a group of schoolchildren after it magically brings a snowman to life. Realizing that newly living Frosty will melt in spring unless he takes shelter in a colder climate, Frosty and a young girl who he befriends stow away on a freight train headed for the north pole. Little do they know that the magician is following them, and he wants his hat back. This animated short is based on the popular Christmas song of the same name.
