Park the Bus F.C. An indoor soccer club started by Saint Joe students as a team for those that have never really played soccer before or only recently become interested in the sport.
The few players with any experience are trying to lead the way for the brand new recruits.
Goalkeeper Korbin Burkus, despite never having played keeper before, is improving every week. After giving up 16 goals in his first two games, Burkus has been piling up the saves since his defensive backline is still gelling. He continues working on his reflexes through practice and developing his ability to distribute through his throws and pass out of the back.
Gerry Jones is one of the key players on this team as he has played defense, offense and midfield before. When the team has been short on players, Jones acts like a Swiss army knife the way he can play multiple positions. Jones formed the squad to give a chance to those that have not played soccer before, and takes a leadership role as the glue for the team.
Manager Sam Essig has employed several tactics to get this team to improve. Having coached soccer at various levels for 10 year, Essig also brings coaching experience comes from playing Fifa. He plans to lean on a defensive strategy as the team continues to find its footing on offense.
The squad is always looking for new players. If you are interested make sure to contact [email protected].
