Gran Turismo is a Netflix original that came out on August 25, 2023. Blomkamp is the director of the 2023 American biographical sports drama film Gran Turismo, which is based on a script by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. At the box office, it brought in $122 million thanks to its great reception.

This move is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, who became a professional race car driver after playing Gran Turismo video games in his bedroom in Darlington, United Kingdom. He defeated 90,000 competitors in 2011 to become the third and youngest winner of the GT Academy competition and secure a professional racing deal with Nissan. GT Academy was formed to help PlayStation racing gamers become professional racing drivers. He had never raced in a motorsport before; instead, he had only ever played racing simulation video games. As Jann, Archie Madekwe does a fantastic job; throughout the movie, you can truly observe the growth and development. David Harbour, on the other hand, was really amazing and really strengthened the plot.

There is excellent use of special effects—the crash scenes, in particular, have an incredibly lifelike appearance. They truly did use a number of locations across the globe for some amazing location work as well. The movie’s was an incredibly delightful surprise: it told an engaging true story that perfectly conveyed the thrill of competition motorsport and its achievements. There are numerous racing scenes, all of which were skillfully made. Watching the movie made you feel like you were actually watching a live competition.

This was a wonderful film from beginning to end. It is definitely one of my favorite movies from 2023, so I personally give this movie an 8.5/10.
