Every year, a new group of kids become seniors and a new batch of a most infectious disease sweeps through Saint Joe’s hallways, targeting seniors and catching even a few juniors in its grasps as well. This terrifying, ghastly disease? Senioritis!
You’re always at risk of catching the disease, although the group most at risk are those that are at the end of their high school career. Senioritis brings on a whole slew of symptoms, ranging from laziness and loss of motivation, to excessive tardiness and an onslaught of boredom. Although the survival rate is 100%, senioritis can make enjoying one’s last year of high school pretty difficult.
So what is the best medication; what tips and tricks, can help suffering seniors keep their head in the game, and hold onto the motivation to finish out their senior year, while simultaneously enjoying these last few months with their classmates and teachers?
Some findings include a daily dose of personal goals, being hyper organized, staying involved in school activities, and being fully aware of one’s situation. By creating personal goals, whether long or short term, this adds motivation to each day and holds a person accountable to work towards the goals and complete them.
By being hyper organized, in the form of using tools such as a physical planner, to-do list, or even writing down reminders, it will be easier to attack assignments and tasks that need to be done and help a person to visualize and formulate ways to complete everything.
Staying involved in school activities gives people meaning and purpose to go to school, along with combatting boredom. It’ll also, as a plus, expose a person to new friendships and a plethora of memories to look back on.
Finally, it’s good for the infected to be aware that an era is ending in their life. Whether the future stresses them out and they have no idea where they’ll be next August, or they have their next ten years planned out, it’s important to remain present in the moment and enjoy the last few bits of high school. You’ll never experience something like this again, and so it’s important to enjoy the here and the now, and not let senioritis take over and make you forget.
Good luck to all in the rest of your school year and avoiding a bad case of senioritis!
