“The Last Of Us” developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment is a 2022 remake of the original 2013 game. The PS5 remake didn’t change much of the earlier PS3 original, but it did put more detail on the graphics and offered new game mechanics compared to its predecessor.
The game has now been adapted into a TV show, borrowing the plot from the game. Still, there are major differences in the game compared to the show, which despite altering it significantly at times, give it a darker spin that gives the television show an edginess.
Overall, this game ranks among the best I have ever played. This post-apocalyptic action game has such a compelling storyline: adventurous, humorous, scary, dark and very, very emotional.
The game confronts the player with hard decisions along with characters who have complex backstories that elicit mixed emotions about the character, the game and how it reflects life. Rather time consuming and very challenging (which could be a plus or a drawback depending on your view), the multiple levels of difficulty allow for the game to be challenging but still quite enjoyable.
If you have spare time over the weekend, over spring break, summer break, or whenever, I would highly recommend it. Plus, it will help you understand my next review “The Last Of Us: Left Behind.”
