Hello future seniors, Senior year can be somewhat strange, as you have either absolutely no freedom in your class choices, or an unusually large degree of freedom with your class choices: sometimes it can be overwhelming especially the theology choices so here’s my recommendations for some courses depending on your interests:
1. News and Broadcasting: Hello, news and Broadcasting student here, so I’m not biased at all (that’s sarcastic). Despite this, I’d genuinely recommend this class if you have any interest in expressing a creative aspect, or an interest in news reporting. Do make sure you have a variety of topics that you could write articles or videos on though that could even be an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone! Overall a great choice if you appreciate a class that offers more independence.
2. Faith and Science: A theology which next year (24-25 academic year) will be classified as an honors theology course. Taught in the first semester by Mr. Culver, Faith and Science is a fascinating class that explores the rich connection between the aspects of faith, and the physical science. Exploring the presumed conflict and how both aspects work together in tandem. This class has a more consistent workload, however the projects provide unique chances to explore topics that interest you in the realm of faith and science.
3. AP physics: Probably the most challenging course that Saint Joseph will offer, so that begs the question why are you recommending it? Well the answer is simple: This class is insanely fun. That’s genuine, not sarcasm; At least if you have a vested interest in Science or engineering, which if you’re thinking about taking AP physics, you probably do. I will not lie and say the class will not challenge your academic abilities regularly, and your ability to manage time, and analyze information will be tested every class. But it’s absolutely worth it in my opinion, you do need to be in a Calculus class (either AB or BC) and have taken Physics the previous year, but I’d recommend taking it if you wish to pursue science, despite it’s difficulty.
