We all know Beyoncé. From her smash hits “Irreplaceable” to “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Beyoncé has been a household name since her days in Destiny’s Child. She has blazed this path for herself by becoming a master pop singer and producing massive pop hits. However, she plans to shake it up as of March 29th.
Beyoncé plans to leave her pop ways behind (or at least take a detour) in order to produce a country album. She has already produced two singles in preparation for her genre switch up. She has released “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em.” While these songs have received mixed reviews, I do not know how I feel about them. I do not know what I was expecting, but they felt odd. It felt like it was just Beyoncé singing with a country rhythm going on in the background while she sang. It did not feel like her singing and the country music behind her matched. Maybe I’m just biased because when I think of Beyoncé I immediately think pop, but they did not feel very country to me. She is , however, from Texas originally after all.
There are many differing thoughts and opinions regarding Beyoncé’s new adventure into the country world. Some feel that it will sidetrack her star studded career. Even others feel that she is disrespecting the country genre as a whole. Meanwhile, others yet are excited to see what Beyoncé can do. Me personally, I do not know what to expect. I do not think it will be as quality as her other work, but maybe Beyoncé will surprise us. We’ll find out on March 29th!
