As the Lenten season comes into full swing, we begin a period of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Many of us may find fasting to be a difficult transition, maybe even something we dread. However, abstaining from certain foods, such as meat, does not always have to be so challenging.
If you struggle to find restaurants with food that you can eat on Fridays, some Saint Joe teachers shared their favorite places to go: Wings etc., Tap House, Fiddlers Hearth, Jay’s Lounge, and Bob’s 19th Hole are some of their top go to’s.
If you’re more of a home cooker but can’t think of what to cook, some teachers also shared their favorite dishes to prepare for themselves and their families: homemade pizza, shrimp scampi, salmon and rice, alfredo, pesto, mac and cheese, and stuffed shells are some of their favorite at home dishes.
The Lenten season does not have to be a time you dread, but rather a time to grow. You may still enjoy your favorite foods and restaurants even with food restrictions. This time allows us to explore new foods as well as grow closer to God in the process, it’s a win-win!
