So you want to start a notebook collection but don’t know where to start well in this article you’ll learn all you need to know on how to start your notebook hoarding adventure.
The first thing a budding notebook collector needs to keep in mind is what do they think of when they hear “fancy notebook.” Whatever first pops into your mind is what will be referred to as your Ideal Type of notebook for the duration of this article. However one may think it is best to simply buy that notebook first. DO NOT do this, once you have an Ideal Type in your collection the desire to continue hoarding is decreased unless you have enough notebooks already to increase your desire to start collecting. So as a word of caution when collecting avoid any notebook you can see yourself using for the rest of your life when you first start out.
So you may be asking if you shouldn’t buy your Ideal Type first what should you buy. The answer is Throw Aways. You should have around ten Throw Away at any given time and they are exactly what you think they are, they are your scrap notebooks and the unused notebooks your parents buy you for your classes. I would recommend that you have at least three that are small enough to fit in your pocket so you can be the person who always has paper and a writing utensil.
Next you should get yourself a slightly fancier notebook which will be called a Jewels. These can be slightly expensive so if you need you can collect these more slowly. These are your hard cover notebooks with designs you like or even notebooks that are based on books or notebooks from pieces of media. Jewels are what keep you collecting and you will typically pick them up on a whim from a book or department store.
Finally after obtaining a few Jewels you will be able to crown your collection with an Ideal Type. If you’re a hardcore collector money is no object when it comes to obtaining your Ideal Type. This notebook should be the notebook of your dreams and settling for less will be unfulfilling. Once you’ve obtained your Ideal Type continue collecting at random picking up Jewels that catch your eye and Throw Aways when you feel in need of one.
If after all of this one is unhappy with their collection you have True Hoarder Syndrome. True Hoarders usually have one defining trait and that is EVERY notebook is their Ideal Type. There is little to do about a True Hoarder Syndrome and must be lived ones life. Hopefully this does not befall you. Happy Hunting.
