Recently in my sociology class I was asked to do an experiment where I set up a form and had people respond to it. From there I recorded the results and now I am going to do an analysis from the results I received. There were 38 responses to this form and the first question was if they were male or female. 65.8% were male and 34.2% were female. The next question was what grade they are in 18.4% are freshman, 21.1% are sophomores, 31.6% are juniors, and 28.9 are seniors. The next question was what was their favorite meal of the day and their responses were 78.9% dinner, 13.2% lunch, and 7.9% breakfast. Then I asked what they thought the most important meal of the day was and the responses differed from the previous question quite a bit. Breakfast came in at 50%, 15.8% lunch and 34.2% dinner.
I believe that the difference between the charts in the last two questions have such different answers for two different reasons. The first reason I believe is that were were always told when we are growing up that breakfast is the most important meal of the day so some people just automatically go to breakfast as the most important meal of the day even though other studies from a CDC show that in 2021 75% of high school students skip out on breakfast. So if it is the most important why do over half of high school students skip it? The other reasoning behind why I believe that the charts are so different is because the variety of different food that we have for dinner. You can even have breakfast for dinner and also dinner is usually the biggest meal for most people so that is also another reason to be excited for it.
