Ryan Ruszkowski, a sophomore from Saint Joe gives us a little insight of his life as a student athlete. He plays varsity football as well as varsity lacrosse for his very first year playing. Ryan position in football is safety and wide receiver and enjoys this position because he gets to tackle people. He also enjoys playing football because he loves being on a team that is so close and connected, fun and overall brings a good energy whenever they are all together. He also likes football gives him something to do outside of school. Out of lacrosse and football he enjoys football more, he plans on improving his strength, speed, being a leader and being kinder to his teammates in his upcoming football season.
Ruszkowski, says his biggest inspiration comes from his dad who attending Saint Joe and was the quarterback back in the day. He tells us he inspired him to play football, his dad stays motivating him to never give up, stay out of trouble, keep his head high, keep pushing and be there for his teammates always . His dad is on the sidelines for mostly every game which helps him motivate to stay focus on the field. Ryan says how he balances time for school and athletics is time management. On days he does not have practice he tries to study and finish any homework he has as well as utilizing his flex time during school. He also looks up the older teammates for help whenever they have study tables. During the season he also utilizing using the study tables to get his work done.
Ryan was nervous playing on Friday football nights because many people come to these games from the community which is a ton of pressure and is scary to make mistakes. The football has changed from middle school to high school because its more mentally intimidating and more physically challenging. After his first game under the lights the nerves were all shook off and is very excited for the upcoming season. Ryan was even the second leading tackle on the team. Ryan enjoys other things beside football which include hanging out with his friends and family and his new dog Lulu.
