The Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Lacrosse teams both participated in pre season scrimmages at Penn this past weekend and were very successful. Both teams went undefeated throughout the day each winning three scrimmages. This gave the program an overall record of six wins on the day. The varsity team beat Argos by a score of three to one, Marian by a score of seven to one, and ended the day with a win over Northridge by a score of five to one. The Junior Varsity squad beat Argos four to zero, Marian three to zero, and Northridge five to zero. This was a impressive feat for the goalies Charlie Capps and Cole Halfpenny both getting shutouts.
The scorers for the varsity squad were Jack Tobolski with seven goals, Freddy Helman with three, Jack Keegan and Max Custer with two, and Jack Haigh with one. On the Junior Varsity squad, twins Dom Saratore and Luca Saratore scored three goals, while Ben Brady and Austin Ratigan had two goals, and Christian Jones and John Beehler had one each.
Head Coach Sam Margullis said that he was very pleased with the scrimmage, but that it was a learning opportunity and that there was still many things to work on as the season progressed onward. With many seniors graduating from last year the team is young and looking to gain experience as the season goes on. Next Saturday the squad travels down to Hamilton South Eastern where they will play a double header against Brebeuf Jesuit and Hamilton South Eastern.
