This past Friday Saint Joe hosted its annual Discover Saint Joe Day where 7th graders came to visit the high school. During the day the 7th graders visited different classes, had lunch, and even had a pep rally at the end of the day. The day is an extremely important event for the 7th graders as it gives them a taste of what the next four years will be like.
In years previous to the 2022 school year, Discover Saint Joe Day hosted 8th grade students in the fall. However, starting in the spring of 2022 the first 7th grade visit day was started. This shift in the time and grade level allowed students to experience Saint Joe before they made their decision on where they wanted to go to high school.
The visit day for this year started out early in the morning for student ambassadors who came in to lead 7th grade groups. The groups were split up by school and led on different schedules. These schedules included 6 classes in which the students were able to see many different subjects. In these classes fun activities were presented to the students so they were actively able to engage. The 7th graders ended their day with a pep rally in which prominent seniors came in to speak about their Saint Joe experience.
Moreover, a media team came in to run a morning show and an afternoon show. The latter included a video of the 7th graders themselves. This was largely successful with the 7th graders because they were able to see themselves and how they could fit into the Saint Joe community.
All in all, Discover Saint Joe day is vital because it allows future Saint Joe Huskies to be included in the Saint Joe community and experience everything Saint Joe is about!
