Laura O’Sullivan, a Saint Joe graduate from the class of 1989, has been cooking up quite the political resume.
After she graduated from Purdue University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Laura went on several ventures with former South Bend mayor (and current U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary!), Pete Buttigieg. She was the South Bend Political Director for Pete’s Presidential campaign, and previously worked as his Chief of Staff. While working in these roles, O’Sullivan advanced Mayor Pete’s vision and has worked to make South Bend more innovative, equitable, and sustainable.
O’Sullivan served as the Director of Athletic Events and Stewardship, Director of Special Events and Stewardship, Program Director of Annual Giving Events, and Program and Events Coordinator for Recognition Societies at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to this, she held the position of both Director of Development and Executive Director of the SMC Foundation at Southwestern Michigan College, and, last but not least, she was also the Executive Director for the Northern Indiana March of Dimes. That’s a lot of directing!
She was a citizen member of the South Bend Common Council Parks and Recreation Committee, Trustee of the South Bend Awesome Fund (what a name, huh?), member of the League of Women Voters of the South Bend Area, and Board Member of the South Bend Alumni Association (Saint Joe represent!).
So what is Laura O’Sullivan’s current venture, you ask? Well, like her colleague, Mayor Pete, O’Sullivan has joined the grander American political stage as a member of President Biden’s 2024 Presidential campaign!
O’Sullivan most definitely encompasses the Saint Joe High virtue of reaching higher!
