Saint Joe’s girls and boys track teams ran against Marian’s boys and girls Tuesday night for both schools’ senior nights.
In the first event, the 4×8, Saint Joe swept Marian. For the hurdles both the b0ys and the girls won all hurdling events, the 300 low hurdles and the 100 high hurdles. Luke Kaulfold and Brennen Moser won the 100 high hurdles, and Lainey Eder and Luke Kaulfold won the 300 low hurdles.
As the night progressed, Saint Joe continued to showcase their talent and success in each and every event. TJ Mcbride and Lizzy Kloska took the gold medal in high jumping and added significantly to Saint Joe’s overall score. Additionally, Brady Farrell and Teneka Horton both won the pole vaulting region contributing to the team’s increasing score. As the night went on, the team was nearing the favorite 4×4 race.
Since it was a duel meet, Mr. McCarthy allowed individuals to form their own relay team. The boys created 8 different teams and most using “anything but a baton” to complete the race. Items like a stuffed animal, a phone, even the cross country spirit stick were used instead of a baton. Different event specialists of boys participated in this event ranging from throwers, to sprinters, to distance runners.
Marian stood no chance against our boys team thus allowing the boys to sweep Marian yet again. The girls also took first, second, and third, leaving Marian to obtain fourth. But similar to the boys, the girls formed their own teams ranging from highjumpers to distance runners and so on. Overall, this senior night was a win in the scorebook for Saint Joe but an extremely enjoyable experience as we honored our seniors. Thank you seniors, have a great day Saint Joe!
