The Girls Soccer team hosedt the annual and highly competitive Saint Joseph Invitational on Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24. Once again the event held all the games at Newton Park, located at 801 N Michigan Lakeville, IN 46536.
The Invitational consisted of 16 teams from around Indiana with over 10 ranked teams who provided a great weekend of soccer. Our Saint Joseph Girls Varsity competed against Lake Central on Friday at 6:00 pm and Fort Wayne Carroll on Saturday at 11:00 am. Saint Joe Girls Varsity defeated #9 ranked Carroll 2-0 and fell to Lake Central 0-2. Lily Gerard and Lauren Frick scored for St Joe on Saturday, and Shea Anderson had a shutout including a penalty kick save.
Other teams involved in the event included Penn, Marian, and Adams locally as well as Valparaiso, Munster, Crown Point, and Chesterton from the northwest region of Indiana. Goshen and Northridge with Fort Wayne’s Homestead and Bellmont also competed. Hamilton Southeastern from Indianapolis and Evansville Memorial also showed off their talent in the elite tournament.
The Huskies JV also competed this weekend against Adams at 5:00 pm on Friday and Fort Wayne Carroll at 8:30 am on Saturday. They defeated Adams 1-0 as Addie Dees scored the game winner. On Saturday they fell 1-0 to Carroll.
Overall the weather was hospitable and the event was once again a big success setting a new attendance record.
