Studying for your tests and quizzes can be challenging if you do not know the correct and efficient ways to do it. First, make sure to NOT wait until the night before to study. If you only study the night before a test, you will not retain the information as well, especially not for as long. Do not procrastinate!
Ask questions! Do not be afraid to talk to your teachers, it is their job to help you!
Make a plan! Set study goals for yourself that you want to achieve. Writing down everything you need to get done is a very efficient way of actually doing it! By setting a plan for yourself, it will save a lot of time in making decisions and retracing your steps to get necessary materials.
A question to ask yourself is “Is the technique I use to study efficient?” A student from Saint Joe said “Quizlet is the best study tool for me, it helps me remember the information better while keeping studying fun with the games.” Another student said “I make note cards and rewrite my notes because writing things down helps me remember.” There are many effective ways to study, so there is no right answer! Make sure you figure out which study tool is best for you, if you don’t know, ask others!
Visual learners learn best by sight. This could mean diagrams, charts, maps, and graphs. To boost this learning style, you should highlight the important things within your notes in color, or make diagrams in your notes so you can look back at them.
For auditory learners, you could recite your notes aloud, or have someone quiz you. Repeat information you’ve memorized aloud with your eyes closed. Eliminating visual distractions can help you focus on the information you are reciting. Find a study buddy!
Having an effective method of preparing for tests and quizzes is very important. Make sure you stay on top of your work and do not procrastinate!
