The boys tennis finished their regular season on Wednesday September 25 against Elkhart. They honored the following seniors: Jack Halfpenny, Alex Rulli, Graham Shedivy, Jake Westberry, Nick Nguyen, Aidan Lynn, Sean Spoonhower, Cormac Kennedy, and Rowen Isenberg. The boys defeated Elkhart 3-2 in a intense match.
1 singles, Jacob Hix, defeated Brady Kelly pretty easily in a 6-0, 6-3 match. In the first set Jacob broke early and served to go up 2-0, he then broke Bradys serve again to take the 3-0 lead. In the second set it was close to begin with at 3-2 Jacob, but then he pulled away winning 6-3.
2 singles, Oliver Hix, defeated Logan Kelly easily as well with a score of 6-2, 6-0. Oliver took the early lead 1-0 with his serve then Logan also held his serve to even it out at 1-1. Oliver then held his serve again and broke Logans serve to take the 3-1, after this Oliver pulled away and won the first set. Oliver came out blazing in the second set and took the early 4-0 lead, then finished the match and won 6-0.
3 singles, Ben Brady, fell short to Ben Miller 6-3, 6-0. Ben took an early lead in the first set, but Ben responded with a hold and a break, but it just wasnt enough to defeat Ben in the first set. In the second set Ben Miller came out hot and took an early 4-0 lead, he ended up pulling away the match.
1 doubles, Nick Nguyen and Jake Westberry beat Noah Dibbly and Cameron Miller 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7). In the first set the teams kept splitting games and it came down to the tiebreak which the boys won pretty easily 7-3. But in the second set they took an early 3-1 lead, but Elkhart responded and took a game making it 3-2. Then Jake and Nick took both games in the change over to take a 5-2 lead. Surely thinking the match was over everyone went to watch 2 doubles, but Elkhart rallied and make it 5-5, then Elkhart took the 6-5 lead but Saint Joe responded to send it to a tie breaker which they won 9-7.
2 doubles, Jack Mattison and Cormac Kennedy lost to Matt Grouch and Hayden Holdeman 4-6, 6-3, 1-6. Saint Joe took an early 3-2 lead, but Elkhart responded and won the set. In the second set Saint Joe won the first 3 games, but Elkhart responded to make it 3-2 Saint Joe ended up winning that set, but Elkhart was too much and ended up defeating the boys 6-1 in the final set.
