The Month September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide Prevention Month is the Month to remember all the lives we lost. This month is to think about all those who are fighting suicidal thoughts, have lost someone to suicide, have attempted, have no support system, or are scared to speak up. Suicide doesn’t end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting better. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. People cannot rescue you if they do not know you need rescuing. There will come a time when you find real happiness and you will look back and be so glad you stayed. Over 800,000 people die by suicide each year. That means there is one death by suicide every 10 seconds. Men are four times more likely to die by suicide then women.
Suicide is the 10th biggest cause of death worldwide. You can help prevent this by watching out for warning signs, be a good listener, speak up if your worried about someone, encourage them to see a mental professional, stay connected with them, and make sure they are not alone and kept safe. You should always be kind to other’s because you can never know what they’re going through. If you fear that someone is having suicidal thoughts, ask them. Don’t be afraid to talk to them and listen. By doing this you are giving them the opportunity to open up. Mental Health is real, always check up on the one’s you love. Stay another day, do it yourself, stay to see the day’s you’ve been waiting for, stay to be able to say you made it.
