Deftones are having a resurgence lately, thanks to their mix of consistent sonic evolution and a growing fan base across generations; Thanks to social media platforms like TikTok. Their latest 2020 album Ohms signified an all time high in creativity, blending in the atmospheric sound found in their more recent work like Koi No Yokan, and the raw aggression found in their early albums like Around The Fur. Stephens’ crushing riffs, combined with Chino’s introspective lyrics, have resonated deeply with both new and long-time fans. This factor, coupled with their standout performances at major 2024 festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Primavera Sound, propelled them into the spotlight as one of alternative metal’s most beloved and innovative acts.
Deciding to ride off this new wave of success, Deftones have recently announced an ambitious 2025 North American tour, which starts off on February 25 in Portland, Oregon. During this two month tour, they’ll stop at 21 cities, including some iconic stops like Madison Square Garden on April 3rd and some pretty big venues like the MGM Grand Garden Arena located in Las Vegas, United Center in downtown Chicago, and the TD Garden in Boston for their concluding tour show on April 8th. Deftones won’t be alone during this tour, The Mars Volta, celebrated for their genre-bending and crazy performances, and Fleshwater, whose “shoegazy” and melancholic approach to hardore gained them a loyal fanbase, are joining the lineup. Together, they add a fresh and diverse twist to the tour. To add some locality, this upcoming March 28th, the trio will be performing at the GainBridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. With shows selling out fast, this tour is looking to be a once in a lifetime event, bringing together Veterans and newcomers to the transcendent experience that is Deftones.
