It’s getting to be that time of year when the weather gets crisper and hockey buzzers roar! The SJ hockey team kicks off the pre-season in the Great Lakes Kickoff tournament on October 4th, up in Kalamazoo. First they play Little Coachers 18u AA on Friday, and will next play Adams. After that they will play the SWM blades, and the last game is still TBD. The roster for this season includes seniors Andy Yergler, Evan Peters, Max Sanchez, Owen Balint, and Braden Kujawa. There’s a massive amount of juniors consisting of Ben Fisher, Niklas Gerard, Jackson Beatty, Tate Guyton, Sam Frick, Christian Jones,  Evan Balint, Marko Zielinski, Jackson Troester, Colton Edman, and Brad Kane. This season’s sophomores include Zach Collins, Brayden Dhoore, Cooper Roos, Jacob Hix, Ben Clark, Beckham Rhame, Alex Hutchinson, Carter Joo, and Wyatt Amm. The freshmen include Oliver Hix, Evan Marler, Matthew Schell, Callen Klosinski, Jack Doyle, Joe Bozek, and Alex Slagh. We’ll see how this roster works with each other after this weekend. Let’s hope the team gets some wins!

Members of the hockey team have said that they are “excited for the year” and think that “the season will go great!” Being the regular season champs and having a record of 19-1-2 last year, I expect that this season will go amazingly. The sjhshockey Instagram page has posted the schedule with our varsity blue having nine games in October and the varsity white having 4. Go out and support the team by showing up and cheering loud!
