Among the many different ways to prepare and help yourself study during the school year include getting enough sleep, being well prepared and knowing your material, and mentally preparing yourself as well. But, the food that you put in your body, can be just as if not more important than some of these factors.
Many foods that can help you as you study. Take fish for example. In a 2017 study by the National Institute of Health, it says that “oily fish have omega-3 fatty acids. People with high levels of omega-3s had better blood flow in their brains, which increased cognitive and thinking abilities.” Other fish that include these acids are salmon, tuna, sardines, etc. This shows how consuming fish can help you study and help your thinking abilities.
Omega-3s can also be found in nuts and various seeds! Nuts and seeds can be very beneficial for the brain and also have antioxidants within them. In a 2014 study, also by the National Institute of Health, it says, “vitamin E may also contribute to improved cognition and reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease.” Examples of nuts and seeds that contain vitamin E include sunflower seeds, almonds, and more!
Still other foods that can be very good for your brain as you study. These include berries which reduce inflammation and improve internal communication. Another example are whole grains which are also a very good source of vitamin E. Even avocados can help reduce blood pressure which if it is at high levels, can reduce brain function. Those are some other examples of good brain foods.
