Last Friday, October 11th, our football team hosted South Bend Washington on Father Bly field in a special night for the senior class of 2024. The football team won Friday’s home conference game against South Bend Washington by a score of 49-0.
On this night we celebrated 21 seniors of the class of 2024. These seniors, and the rest of the team, came ready to play on Friday, coming out to a quick and decisive 28 point lead at the end of one quarter. The first score of the night came from senior wide receiver Cle Kimbrough as he broke through the panther defense on a jet sweep that went for 26 yards! The next score came shortly after on another jet sweep, this time by sophomore standout Buddy Hurley. Another punch to the Panthers came on a 65 yard rush by Junior running back Franco Biffle, although he did not score, he got the Huskies in striking distance. To finish off the commanding drive, Biffle scored from 5 yards out. The last score of the first quarter came from Buddy Hurley once again on a jet sweep. This first quarter set the tone for how the Huskies were coming on senior night, and the panthers had no chance. 1
4 more points came in the second quarter, one coming from a beautiful pitch and catch from AJ Lasane to Buddy Hurley once again for six! And the final score of the first half came from Senior Running Back Brady Lanager getting in the endzone from 25 yards out on a special night for the entire husky squad. As the first half came to a close, the end was already in sight, the Huskies were up on the panthers 42-0.
Saint Joe would only score once more to end this game, and it came from senior running back Noah Boutsomsy on a 42 yard rush up the middle. This game was over before it really had the chance to get started, a1s the Huskies started rolling, and they couldn’t stop. It was the perfect night to celebrate these 21 seniors of the class of 2024 who are all bound to do amazing things once their high school career is said and done. Not only did the seniors ball-out on Friday but sophomore wide out Brayson Hurley was recognized with the honor being nominated for the South Bend Tribune Player of the week.
