Thanksgiving is a holiday that has a very wide variety of traditions. It is the one day where we spend time with one another and celebrate what we are thankful for and the blessings within our lives. What are some traditions that you can do to make this Thanksgiving special?
During the holiday, maybe you find yourself in mood for some football? Well, then don’t fear because there will be three games on during Thanksgiving 2024. These include: Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions at 12:30 pm, New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 pm, and Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers at 8:20 pm. Maybe throw the football as the game is on, or just simply relax in your living room with the family.
Earlier in the day, why don’t you turn on the Macey’s Day Parade? This is a classic American Tradition held in New York City that the entire country gets in on. This year, the parade celebrates for the 98th time! The parade will showcase many different floats, celebrities, and different musical performances. The parade will be held at 8:30 EST, so tune in for this fun event.
Some other fun traditions include running a “Turkey Trot,” usually held in the morning or afternoon. The “Turkey Trot” is a fun race for people during this holiday and a great way to bond and truly earn that delicious dinner! Another example is breaking the wishbone of a turkey, a tradition that involves two people breaking this bone and earning good luck from their break. Make sure you contribute to your community as well! Maybe volunteer at the soup kitchen or donate food, remember to do your part here in South Bend. Don’t forget the classic Thanksgiving dinner with your loved ones!
To sum it up, there are many fun and beneficial things you can do to make this Thanksgiving special.
