Saint Joe’s Esports team has just finished the fall season. Our varsity team has done great and our two club teams have started the year off well.
Our varsity team has fought against many other high school teams in Indiana. We have won against Franklin County 2-0, Columbia City 2-0, Tippecanoe Valley 2-0, and Lakeland 2-0! We unfortunately lost against Hobart High School 0-2 (who placed first last year) and Scottsburg 0-2 in very close matches.
Captain Peter George Baglow, who despite being absent for a significant amount of the matches due to his role in the fall play, was still defeating entire teams when he was able to show up. Another important player was James Martin who helped manage the team and train new players. Theodore Christensen who is on one of the club teams said “It was a great experience and I had a great time.”
Mrs. Coleman the moderator of the team adds that, “This year was a building year. We had a lot more freshman, but I think we made a lot of progress and we have a lot more people, which is better for the program.”
After graduating many key seniors, we added many new members who still have a lot to learn, but the future’s looking bright. Our two club teams have been learning new techniques to prepare for the season and are steadily improving and our Varsity team is slowly starting to be on the same level as last year’s team. We are going to accept new players next semester, so if you weren’t able to make it this fall you can join in the spring season!
