The Girls basketball season kicked off earlier this month! They played their first game against Fremont and unfortunately lost, but rebounded with two wins in a row. First, they beat Hammond Bishop Noll on November 8th, and then followed that up with another win against Mishawaka the next night.
The team is led by head Coach Scott Franceour, and seniors Alexa Langager and Kenadie Schrock, as well as junior Kayla Woods. Schrock intends to continue playing at the next level in college at Saint Mary’s College, right down the street from Saint Joe.
In their 63-48 win against Hammond Bishop Noll, Kayla Woods led the team in scoring, with 22 points on 41% efficiency from the field. Kenadie Schrock and Lauren Hickey also scored double digits, Schrock scoring 16 points and Hickey scoring 13.
When they played Mishawaka, the result was the same. They won 53-27 in a decisive victory. Freshman Lauren Hickey led the team in scoring with 14 points, with Kenadie Schrock following her with 12.
The team plays next on Friday, November 15th, hoping to keep their win streak alive and keep rolling. They play Concord at 7:45pm at Concord. Concord is 0-2 losing to South Bend Adams and Elkhart. After their last two wins, the team is confident heading into this game and ready to take care of business on the road. Still in the early season, another win would put the team in the right direction to continue their success, and the team will only get better as the season continues to progress.
Have a Great Day Saint Joe!
