The Thanksgiving Food Drive organizes hundreds of Thanksgiving meals including turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings. For the past 30 years the Black Box Theatre has been overtaken by a student assembly line preparing boxes full of holiday fare and distributed via a drive-up service line outside of the school. The meals we package go to families in the community that can not afford a Thanksgiving meal. With the food we package and money we raise, we can feed many families all throughout the community and help them have a joyful holiday.
Throughout the first weeks of November, Saint Joe students pledged a certain amount of money in their 5th period class to the food drive and brought it in. It costs 70$ to feed one family for a week. To encourage people to donate above and beyond, there was a class competition to see which class could raise the most money. Mrs.Firestone’s 5th period class won the competition. We matched our school pledge already and are still accepting pledges until Friday, November 22!
The packaging days are Friday, November 22 3:30-6pm and Saturday November 23 10am-12pm. The food will be distributed on Tuesday, November 26 3:30-6pm.
