Last Friday, the State Runner up Saint Joe Husky basketball team took on Niles high school. The team traveled to Niles ready to run them into the floor. This mindset propelled them into a lopsided double digit victory. The team was led by senior Chase Konienczny who was striking on offense and a lock down defender. Another work dog on the defensive side was senior Brashaun Woods. He put the clamps on Niles’s seemingly large offense. Another key contributor to the Huskies offense is deep threat, Nick Shrewsberry. He had multiple threes and propelled the Huskies towards the win. Junior Ethan Roseman, who transferred from Indy recently played a key role in the win too. Ethan’s shifty ability created steals and buckets. His mid range shot couldn’t be contested by Niles towering defense. Finally, to cap the starting five, sophomore Elijah King pressed the Niles offense. He was Saint Joe’s best attacker and also buried multiple threes.
Coach Eric Gaff was ready to let the other high schools know that the Huskies are coming back for more. After a great season, the team is preparing to make the same run again and win. Everyday the team practices to get better and does not take any time for granted. The Huskies build their team around picking others up and making the team better before your self. Their first home game is on December 3rd, against the Concord Minute Men. It is in Alumni Gym and is a statement game to start off the season. Make sure to come watch the Huskies!
