Are you ever bored during winter and need to find something to do? Well ice skating is one of the most popular and fun winter activities. Howard Park in South Bend is a good place to do that. It is located in downtown South Bend and very close to Saint Joe. It is newly built and has become a very popular spot to go all year round. 

The thing that makes Howard Park unique is that it has a 16,000 square foot ice trail with curves and some hills which make it more interesting and fun for skaters. It also has an attached isolated skating area. The ice rink is open 7 days a week during the winter season. The best time to visit is at night because it is lit up and pretty especially during the holidays. Another benefit is that you can easily rent and exchange skates, get hot chocolate and snacks and sit by the multiple fires if you get cold. If you get tired of skating, they have a big playground in the center of the park, and walking trails around the river which are also fun things to do.

When the weather is warmer, it is still a fun place to be. In the summer the ice trail turns into a pond and patio area. There also are fountains and lawns where people can hang out and many events happen. Howard Park also has a restaurant called The Public House which serves food like burgers, fries, and other sandwiches.  This makes Howard Park a great place with something entertaining for all ages all year round.
