Have you ever had one of them days? Well, check out the new movie playing in theaters right now “One of Them Days” starring Keke Palmer and Sza who play as two childhood friends.
Best friends and roommates Dreux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa (Sza) are a familiar duo two girls with the same enjoyment for life who takes on the dilemmas of daily living hilariously. Dreux is a hard-working, charming but bashful waitress looking to step up to franchise manager at her job in a local restaurant joint. She’s the girl who does everything so easily throwing smirks and clever punchlines while making employee of the month. She’s confident but anxious. Alyssa, a free-spirited and talented artist, is the kind of girl who splits her time at a party explaining medical charts, acting as the wingwoman for her girls, and sneaking away with her man. But if Alyssa and Dreux’s song comes on, you know they’re pausing everything to go cut it up on the dance floor.
When Alyssa trusted her situationship Keshawn to turn in her and Dreux’s rent money, they find out that he blew it on his ad T-Shirt business “Cucci” until their landlord is banging down their door. They have 24 hours before they get kicked out, and with their neighbor already placing his things on the curb, they know it’s no joke. As they set off on an adventure to try and make $1500 before their 24-hour time span is up they spark a kinetic comedy of faults as the besties put their misguided heads together to keep a roof over their heads.
This movie is filled with emotional roller coasters as they try to make 1500. The chemistry between the two actresses is undeniable, and it’s clear that their connection is what makes the film work. Their friendship feels real, messy, and layered. Both SZA and Keke Palmer deliver standout performances. Palmer’s portrayal of the ambitious yet emotionally guarded Dreux relatable with her comedic timing providing a needed balance to the film’s more dark moments. SZA, known for her deeply emotional music, brings that same raw vulnerability to her character. She acts as a woman caught between nostalgia and the realization that she must move forward, and it’s easy to see the emotional weight she carries through her performance.
Overall this movie was a great watch especially if your in to music like me. While watching this movie it kind of reminded me of the movie called ” Friday After Next” because they have a similar plot but this move was a 8.7/10.
