The Girls Basketball Team had a strong season this year. After struggling the past two seasons with losing records, they turned it around this year and finished the regular season 12-8 overall. In conference they finished fourth with a 4-3 record, losing to Penn, Washington, and Elkhart.
This season, Kenadie Schrock, a senior, led the team in scoring and assists with 13.0 points per game and 3.7 assists per game. Lauren Hickey, a freshman, led the team in field goal percentage shooting 39% from the field and 29% from three. Kayla Woods, a junior, led the team in rebounds with 5.6 rebounds per game.
As a team, they scored 44.8 points per game while giving up 44.2 points per game on average. The girls averaged 11.6 assists per game along with 11.0 steals per game. They averaged 23.9 rebounds per game with 14.9 of those coming from the defensive end.
Throughout the season, 14 different players appeared in the games. Three freshmen, Pollie Walters (20 games), Lauren Hickey (19 games), and Karina Reaume (8 games), appeared for the team. Three sophomores, Trinity Parker (19 games), Karli Brooke (14 games), and Addie Dees (1 game), competed for the team. Six juniors, Kayla Woods (20 games), Michelle Carter (17 games), Kambria Martin (16 games), Nicki Byrne (15 games), Debra Parker (11 games), Alex Brooks (5 games), took the court this season. Finally, two seniors, Alexa Langager (20 games) and Kenadie Schrock (20 games), played in every game. The team was also fortunate to have two senior managers, Emma Richardson and Morgan Brackett.
On Friday, February 7, the team will play at home in Alumni Gym for the sectional semifinals. They will face either Culver Academies or New Prairie.
