The Saint Joe Softball team is preparing for its upcoming season already with winter workouts. “There is a lot to look forward to this year,” head coach Earl Keith has stated. Although the team suffers a blow as senior Berkley Zache has made the decision not to play for the team this season, a large number of incoming freshmen as well as returning players should help to fill the gap.
Earl Keith has been a long-time head coach for the Saint Joe softball program. While the other coaching staff has changed a little bit since last year, two other returning coaches are Alyssa Weinberg and Rachel Solmos. Last year Alyssa was head coach of the JV softball team and Rachel was one of the assistant coaches for the varsity squad.
Sophomore Violet Kinnucan shared, “I’m feeling good about the softball season because we have been doing really well during practice. We also have super good team chemistry.” And sophomore Danica Prokop is enthusiastic about the upcoming season as well. “I think it’s going to be a great year, we just have to continue to figure out how to work together fully as a team.”
Workouts are almost everyday after school either in the aux gym or cages by the football field. Anyone interested in joining the team should show up so we can build team chemistry and the coaches can see what talent is going to be added to the team this year!
