On February 10, 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The game itself was a bit of a dud, with the Eagles’s win pretty much decided by halftime. Some of the commercials, however, proved more interesting. Here are my top 5 favorite commercials from Super Bowl LIX:
5: Angel Soft – Bathroom Break
Angel Soft bought 30 seconds of Ad space before the halftime show and used it to tell people to use the restroom. I don’t think 30 seconds is really long enough for a bathroom break, but it was a good Ad nonetheless.
4: Disney + – What If
Disney + asked people to imagine a world in which their most famous movies, including Star Wars, Avengers, and the Lion King, did not exist. The Ad was an effective reminder of just how much movies mean to us, which was probably Disney’s goal. It also contained some humor in reference to “Only Murders in the Building.”
3: DashPass – Nate Bargatze
Nate Bargatze is my favorite comedian, so I’m a bit biased with this one, but I think it really was good. It was visually funny, with Bargatze buying fantastically absurd products (including a horse, giant disco ball, and clones of himself) as well as hiring an opera singer while “saving” money using DashPass.
2: Mountain Dew – Seal as a seal
Seal as a seal for the Mountain Dew commercial is cursed. No more needs to be said.
1: NFL – I am Somebody
Normally I only really like the funny commercials, but this one is an exception. In this commercial, children of varying ethnicities and backgrounds come together as sports teams chanting “I am somebody.” It is a touching video with a message that we could all benefit from remembering.
