To finish out the season on a high note, the Girls Swim Team took fourth in the IHSAA Sectionals. After a long, hard fought season, the girls had an outstanding performance. Over a two day meet at Penn High School, the girls earned a large 246 points, beating out Riley, Mishawaka, Bremen, Marian, and Trinity.
To start out the meet, two Saint Joe divers, Sofia Nanni and Mary Glenn, placed 7th and 8th overall. To continue the meet strong, every swimmer who had competed in prelims continued onto finals. Molly Arnold, Sofia Cuenca, Addyson Farmer, Elizabeth Helm, Yaretzi Ortiz, Anna Pruitt, and Anapaula Valecillos all placed top 16 in all events they swam. Additionally, the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay all placed top 5 overall! To top off the meet, Saint Joes top performers were Anapaula Valecillos, Molly Arnold, and Anna Pruitt. Another big shout out to the 400 free relay of Anapaula Valecillos, Anna Pruitt, Addy Farmer, and Molly Arnold who placed second overall!
The girls were overall happy with their swims, and Captain Addy Farmer said “we ended the meet on a strong note and had an amazing season overall!” With lots of younger athletes preforming big for saint Joe, there is a lot of excitement for the future seasons.
To finish out the season for Saint Joe Swim and Dive, Boy have sectionals prelims on February 20th and finals on the 22nd starting at 1 at Mishawaka. Make sure to show out for our boys and congratulate our girls on an amazing season!
